What a year it has been so far. After being featured on the PFRE-site, I finally dared to enter a photo (see above) to the PFRE Photographer of the Month contest for the very first time and believe it or not I won. I am the first Belgian ever to win the contest.

For those that aren’t familiar with PFRE, this means Photography For Real Estate, the website receives on average between 50.000 and 60.000 visitors a month. It is probably the biggest PFRE-website that is around.

The theme of this past February contest was “living room or family room”. Definitely a theme were there is a lot of great competition, which was also visible after a couple of days in the entry period. In the end there were 35 entered photos by photographers from all over the world, from the U.S.A. to Australia to Belgium and so on … You can still see all of the entered photos in the Flickr-group.

The winner was chosen by a Distinguished PFRE Jury, a combination of past winners and experts in the field, who all voted on the photos in 2 rounds due to the high number of entries. The Jury awarded my photo (see above) a total of 45 points, 9 points more than the runner-up.

What did I get for winning?

1. The honor of being recognized by my peers
2. An entry on the PFRE Best-of-the-best page that contains your winning photo and a link to your web site.
3. A PFRE post that features your business.
4. A free 1 year PFRE real estate photographer directory listing
5. An invitation to participate on the PFRE Jury.

And what did it do for me personaly?

It has motivated me to continue improving, learning and developing my skills and become the best photographer I can be. And maybe I can win this again somewhere in the future.

Why a redesign?

The company wanted to place their focus back on its core functions. Giving the browser basic information that is applicable to all, rather then giving too much information which might not be relevant.

So now the focus lies back on their core functions:

• Consulting
• Marketing (Branding, SEM (SEO & SEA), …)
• Real Estate Photography (Ampersand Photography, a separate website)
• And last but not least Real Estate investment opportunities

Why should you vote for me? I will tell you!

Besides being the licence partner at Engel & Völkers Sint-Martens-Latem, I am also a full-time student at the College of Ghent (HoGent), and all of the little spare time that I have, goes into my companies.

Due to the fact that Engel & Völkers was not very know in Belgium 3 years ago, I had to do something about that. So I decided to get more brand awareness through contacting the youth first, and what is the youth doing these days? There on social media! So I decided to put the brand on every social media that I could think of.

Since a little over 2 years I have put us on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube (MySpace, Netlog). I also started the Engel & Völkers Sint-Martens-Latem Blog, created a wikipedia-page, and continue to post as much new info on social websites via our blog. This all to keep a constant stream of info about the brand and the network in the hope to raise the brand awareness.

By my feeling, and what the people around me are telling me, my efforts are not going unnoticed and have raised the brand’s presence and awareness a lot in Belgium, Europe and further.

To make the Engel & Völkers Sint-Martens-Latem blog, being http://www.evlatem.be/blog, more CI. I never stopped the development of the blog. So now about a month in, a more CI version has been launched. I  have put more attention into the details for example: the width, the red line, …

And as the slogan/title says the blog is still about Engel & Völkers Sint-Martens-Latem, as well as the brand’s (Engel & Völkers) regional, national and international expansion/presence/openings/events. As well as the marketing that  Engel & Völkers Sint-Martens-Latem has done in the area.
