Hello, my name is Nick De Clercq, as you might have already guessed from the domain. I am a 22 years old man, born in Leuven but raised in Ghent, Belgium. I grew up fleeing to the US and Canada in the holidays to feel at home.

2Passion

I’ve probably been interested in photography since the age of 8 when my father brought home a SLR camera (a Japanees brand that I can’t remember anymore). I will always remember the day that he gave me a plain camera so I wouldn’t touch his SLR. From that day on, I have always loved photography but never took the time to go into it.

In 2007, at the age of 18, I set sail on my first business adventure in real estate. After starting my company I rediscovered my passion for photography by taking real estate photos for my company.

4 years later, I started a Architectural/Interior photography company called: Ampersand Photography. And currently I am taking real estate photos for multiple real estate agencies across Belgium.
And in my spare time, I am trying to catch up for lost times. Traveling as much as I can, for as long as I can.

3Favorite question

People sometimes ask me when they see me taking photos with my tripod, multiple lenses, multiple camera bodies, …:  ”Are you a professional?”
My answer is, “No. I am an not. A professional makes the majority of their income from the sale of their photographs. I would love to make a living out of it, but for now I just appreciate the feeling I get when capturing that one fraction of a second with the push of a button.

4Work Experience

In 2007, I set sail on my first real adventure. Signing with Engel & Völkers to become a Licence Partner for the brand. My day-to-day tasks are taking care of the online media, the marketing and the real estate photos.

In 2010, I also joined my father’s company Provide N.V. as a consultant in social media.

In 2011, I founded a subsidiary company specializing in real estate photography called “Ampersand Photography” and this is my primary job now. And together with a friend I co-founded a job site called “Job Launch“, where all employers can place there job openings free-of-charge.

In 2012, I started a initiative called “Architectural & Real Estate Photographers in Europe” to generate a clear overview of how many talented and great architectural photographers are situated in Europe.

5Leisure

As you might already have figured out. All of my spare time goes to my passions: my companies, photography, traveling, sports and …
